The goal here is to let our customers know that their safes are in good hands when dealing with Luna's Safe Moving. This is one of our transportation vehicles. A low provide trailer. Why does this matter? The risk of your safe getting damaged when going up such a low grade is virtually zero! In addition, we use the best securing system.... the E Track system. This allows us to move quickly and safely. That railing system that you see on the inside allows us to strap a 2k lbas safe down within 10 seconds!

Sure the days of Luna's Safe Moving utilizing liftgates are long gone, but they we're cool looking and provided us with great memories. Unfortunately though, liftgates were more for show than performance. Liftgates, when compared to low profile ramps, possess a much higher risk. The pushing of the UP/DOWN button makes the liftgate jump each time. Each mover had to be on their A Game whenever operating these beast. With low profile ramps, we use a winch if a safe is ever that heavy..
Thankfully, when you deal with a low profile trailer with a winch it becomes 10x easier. One man can easily load a 4000lbs safe this way (we always send out 2 men) vs 2 men required on a truck with a liftgate moving a "lightweight" 500lbs safe! See the difference?

Ramps. many ramps!
In most cases we use ramps. Since ramps come in many length and sizes, we come equipped with many ramps. Ramps provide an easy solution when dealing with stairs since they hop over the steps. However, sometimes we cannot use a ramp due to the amount of stairs (usually 10 steps is the max) and need to use other methods.
Dutro Hand Truck
This is the Dutro dolly. It allows us to move up to 1600lbs safes with ease. As you can see, it has big, whide base wheels that kick out and allow us to easily tilt these heavy beast. One man can easily move all safes below, but we always include 2 men. If the safe is wide we will not be able to use this dolly. The wider the safe, harder it becomes to balance it using the Dutro. So we instead use our tandem hydraulic dollies.
Stair climbing dolly
These images below showcase our electric stair climbing dolly. It has a 1200lbs capacity rating. It can climb up or down. Yes down. We cannot use a regular appliance dolly to move these heavy items down stairs simply by letting them drop. Doing so will cause damage to your steps/floors by causing dents and even breaking the steps when the safe slams down.

Tandem Dollies (Hydraulic and non hydraulic)
Here we see a few tandem dollies in action. Although the idea is basically the same on all 3 dolly systems below, there are a few differences that would be important to anyone utilizing them, but we'll skip those tiny details and show our team in action.
The yellow dolly is our main go to dolly. It has a 4000lbs lifting capacity. Sometimes we move multiple safes at the same time and utilize other equipment. The blue dolly is also a hydraulic tandem dolly. This one has a lower weight capacity of 1,500lbs and is thinner. It can sometimes get us in/out of places that the bulkier yellow dolly can't navigate through. The 3rd image is the Anderson dolly. It does not have a hydraulic system and therefore cannot be adjusted in height, it's only good for flat surfaces.
Liftgates
Although we no longer use liftgates ourselves, we do use them from time to time when loading a safe into a customers rental truck or their own private vehicle. If you have a safe and have rented a truck with a liftgate, please let us know ahead of time. We will need to know the safes weight and the liftgates lifting capacity. For our safety, yours and to avoid damaging the safe and/or liftgate, we will refuse to attempt moving a safe on a liftgate that cannot support that weight.
Pallet Jacks
Utilizing pallet jacks comes in handy. They can lift up to 5,500lbs with ease and allow safes to slide straight back if needed. They are very versatile and a must have. However, they do not provide a solution for every safe moving situation. They can tip over easily (especially if the safe is top heavy)
Fork Lift
Sometimes we need to work with forklifts. Although we do not provide or operate our own forklifts, we can load a safe onto one of our moving dollies, prep and move the safe onto the fork lift. In the images shown below, the customer had a 2 safes in an upstairs unit since the 70s. In the 90s the building was remodeled and the elevator was removed. Unfortunately the staircase was too narrow to fit the safes so a forklift was used to bring the safe down from the opening where the elevator once stood.
